Since 2019, Mara has managed impact campaigns for feature length documentaries and digital series for The Kindling Group, in Chicago IL. Most notable is her work managing impact and distribution for No Small Matter, an advocacy film about early childhood education, organizing over 1,400 community screenings, and over 15 legislative screenings across the country (case study). Additionally, Mara assists Kindling Group's Executive Director, Danny Alpert. In this role she assists the operations team and manages the internship program.

 

Prior to working for Kindling Group, Mara interned at the Field Museum in the exhibitions department producing media for permanent and traveling exhibits. When she was not at the museum, she worked for City Bureau in their Documenters Program reporting on public meetings in Chicago. During this time, she also began her photography work with youth sports organizations in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood.

Outside of her current work, Mara is a freelance photographer and videographer with a passion for issues related to the climate. She is pursuing a career in science communication through documentary and media production.
